Most of your work with Emma happens in chat. This page explains the chat controls: where to open the chat, how to choose a mode, and how to point Emma at the right documents.

Open the chat

  • Chat pane. Click Open Emma at the bottom of the sidebar. The chat opens beside the page you are on, and you can resize it. To close and reopen it, use the Hide chat and Show chat icons. You can keep browsing while the conversation stays open.
  • On a phone. Tap Assistant in the bottom menu to open the chat full screen.
  • New chat. Use New chat to start a fresh conversation. Separate conversations for separate bids keep Emma’s context clean.
  • Previous chats. Open Previous chats to search past conversations. Conversations with new replies are marked Unread.
Each page also suggests starters, such as Analyze an opportunity on an opportunity, Create a response plan in a Bid Room, or Summarize documents in the Library. A starter is a ready-made request you can send as it is.

Choose a mode

Pick a mode from the mode selector in the composer. In Plan mode Emma looks at the material, asks any questions that would change the plan, then proposes a plan. Reply to approve it (“Go ahead”) or ask for changes. She only starts the work once you agree.

Is this a good job for Emma?

Before you hand over a bigger job, check three things:
  • Can you say what “done” looks like? “A first draft of question 3.2 under 500 words” works better than “help with the method statement”.
  • Is the evidence in Reyda? Emma works from the tender documents, your profile and the Library. If the facts she needs aren’t there, add them first or attach them.
  • Would it help to split it? A whole tender is easier to manage as several requests, such as qualify, plan, then draft section by section. Or use Plan mode to agree the steps first.
Decisions such as whether to bid, pricing and submission stay with you. See Trust and limits.

Give Emma context

Emma already knows the page you are on. On an opportunity, a Bid Room, a document or the Library, the page is added to the conversation as context. The context chips in the composer show what she can see, such as Current page or Current workspace. If you select text in a document, your selection is included too. To add more:
  • Attachments. Add files with Upload from computer, or attach tender documents, Library documents, snippets, templates or emails from your workspace.
  • @ mentions. Type @ in the composer to point at a specific item, such as a document section, a tender or a Library file.
  • Sources. Use the sources selector to focus Emma on All, Opportunities, Library or Search the web.
  • Web search. Turn on Web search to prioritise web sources. Emma can also search the web on her own when she needs to.
A specific @ mention beats a vague description. “Use @Case study – Dublin City Council” gets better results than “use our Dublin case study”.

While Emma works

Emma says briefly what she is about to do, then shows her progress in plain terms. For longer jobs:
  • A Work progress pill shows how many tasks are done. Use Stop work to stop.
  • If she needs a decision, a Needs input card appears. See Questions and approvals.
  • If Emma needs a website, the Reyda browser may open. See Emma’s browser.
You can keep using Reyda while she works. Conversations are saved, so you can close the pane and come back later.

When Emma replies

Replies lead with the outcome, then the supporting detail. Depending on the request, you may also get:
  • files, with Open file and Download;
  • a Sources panel listing what Emma cited, read or was given (see Sources and citations);
  • market intelligence cards, charts or dashboards;
  • Suggested questions for the next step.
Under a reply you can choose Generate PDF, Try again, or rate it with Good response or Bad response.

After the job

Make the good parts reusable on the next bid:
  • Save strong answers as snippets so she can reuse them.
  • Add any fact she had to ask for to the Library or your company profile.
  • If the result missed, say what was wrong and ask for changes rather than starting over.

Language

Emma replies in the language of your latest message. Write in German and she answers in German. To get the reply or the document in another language, say so: “Answer in English, but draft the method statement in Dutch.”
