# How matching works

> How Reyda matches tenders to your company profile, what the verdicts mean, and how to improve your matches.

Reyda compares every new notice with your company profile and gives it a verdict. The best fits appear in **Recommended**, and partial fits appear under **For review** at the bottom of the same view. Matching is only as good as your profile, so this page explains what Reyda looks at and how you can steer it.

## What Reyda matches against

| Input | Where you set it |
| - | - |
| **Interests**: descriptive phrases for your services and expertise | **Settings → Company** |
| Company description, industry and **Services** | **Settings → Company** and **Settings → Preferences** |
| Tracked CPV codes | **Settings → Company**, under **Track CPV codes** |
| Contract value range, preferred countries and regions, certifications | **Settings → Preferences**, under **Company preferences** |
| Annual turnover, certifications | **Settings → Company** (Financials, Certifications) |
| Past projects and public contracts | **Settings → Experience**. See [Past projects](https://reyda.mintlify.site/knowledge/past-projects.md). |

CPV (Common Procurement Vocabulary) codes are the EU's standard codes for what is being bought. Most of these settings are owner or admin only. See [Set up your company profile](https://reyda.mintlify.site/getting-started/company-profile.md).

## How a notice becomes a recommendation

**1. Find candidates**

Reyda looks for notices whose text is similar to your profile, and notices whose CPV codes fall under the codes you track.

**2. Score relevance**

Each candidate is ranked for how closely the purchased work matches what you do.

**3. Assess fit**

Reyda checks domain fit, financial eligibility, credentials, experience and geography, and respects your value and location preferences.

**4. Give a verdict**

Each notice is marked **Relevant**, **Possible match** or **Not relevant**.

New notices are processed daily. After you change your profile, the Recommended view shows **Updating your recommendations** while Reyda re-checks.

Reyda does the matching automatically. Treat a verdict as a starting point. For a deeper qualification, ask Emma in chat, or set up a routine that has her review new matches. See [Opportunity briefing](https://reyda.mintlify.site/automation/opportunity-briefing.md).

## What the verdicts mean

| Verdict | Where it appears | Meaning |
| - | - | - |
| **Relevant** | Top of **Recommended** | "The purchased work matches your company's products or services." |
| **Possible match** | **For review**, at the bottom of **Recommended** | "The purchased work may match part of your offering; some scope details are unclear." |
| **Not relevant** | Not in **Recommended**. Use **Browse**, or set the **Recommendation status** filter to **Not recommended**. | "The purchased work or supplier role differs from your company's offering." |

The **Recommendation status** filter uses **Recommended**, **For review** and **Not recommended** for these verdicts.

Until a verdict is ready, a card can show a temporary status while Reyda prepares the assessment.

## See why a tender matched

* On cards and rows, hover the relevance indicator to see why a tender matched your profile. The tooltip is headed **Why this matched** and shows High, Medium or Low relevance.
* On the opportunity's **Overview** tab, the **Relevance** box shows the verdict and a short explanation of why the work matches your offering. If the notice asks for something your profile doesn't show, such as a registration or certificate, **Qualification notes** list it.
* Explanations are written in English or German, whatever your interface language.

## Give feedback

If a recommendation is off, click the thumbs-down icon (**Not relevant**) on the card or the opportunity page. Choose a reason: **Not our domain**, **Wrong location**, **Too small or too large** or **Other**. Reyda records the feedback for future matches, and you can click **Undo**.

## Improve your matches

* **Use descriptive interests.** "IT consulting services" and "building renovation" work. "software", "IT" and "services" are too vague.
* **Check the Interest preview.** In **Settings → Company**, the **Interest preview** shows how your interests would have matched opportunities from the last 6 months. Each interest is rated **Strong**, **Mixed**, **Broad**, **Limited** or **Weak**. Remove weak and broad terms.
* **Track the right CPV codes.** Shorter codes match a whole category. Longer codes are more precise.
* **Fill in financials, certifications and past projects.** Without them, the fit checks stay "unknown" and more tenders land in **For review**.
* **Set realistic value and location preferences** in **Company preferences**.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **A match means a tender is worth a closer look.** To decide whether to bid, add it to your pipeline and run a
> [Bid/no-bid report](https://reyda.mintlify.site/pipeline/bid-no-bid-report.md).

## Ask Emma

Emma can explain a match, compare it with your profile and suggest better interests or CPV codes. She does not change your company profile. You make those edits in **Settings**.

Ask Emma

Why was this tender recommended to us? Which parts of our profile matched and what is missing?

Ask Emma

Look at our interests and tracked CPV codes and suggest changes that would cut down irrelevant
recommendations for cleaning contracts.

Ask Emma

Find tenders similar to this one that we may have missed in the last month.
